This afternoon we removed the Vote page tab from all of our sites. Although we eliminated a step in the submission process, our Editorial Team will still be looking at submissions and promoting them based upon the number of favorites, shares and votes. The vote pages were showcasing only a small amount of submitted content. Previously, our Editorial Team would go through submissions and promote a certain amount to the Vote page and from there, high performing submissions from the Vote page were promoted to the Home page.

Removing the Vote pages allows our Editorial Team to look at all submissions as potential posts for the Home page regardless if they have been on the Vote page or not. Please continue to submit your funny content, and we will promote to the Home page depending on how it performs within our community.

We opened up the Cheezburger offices in Seattle to a group of about twenty people from the Yelp community. The Cheezburger event was one of several weekly Yelp events held this month highlighting local businesses. Check your area for fun things like this to do! Scope out http://www.yelp.com/events for more details or to find similar events in your neck of the woods.

We quickly made friends as we introduced ourselves and tapped the keg. We took them on a tour of our office and then moved on to playing games:  Big Game Hunter for Wii, Trivial Pursuit, Cards Against Humanity, and Anomia.

We noshed on food from Veggie Grill, a nationwide chain of vegetarian restaurants in Seattle. Yum! You can find more information and a menu online if you’re interested at veggiegrill.com.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR THE STORY BEHIND YOUR USERNAME! It's pretty simple, actually. My last name is Walker. And, since I was about 5 years old, I have been the Mother-of-all-living-things. At least according to my Mom. I was always bringing home the strays…puppies, kittens, wounded birds and such. But the actual name mamawalker started at a market research company where I supervised about 150 twenty-somethings. I guess I really listened to them more than their own families did and they just started calling me that. It stuck.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF THE CHEEZBURGER COMMUNITY AND WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN? A friend showed me the site in early 2010. I LMAO for a couple of weeks and making lols looked like so much fun that I HAD to join up! Plus I lived in a place where I could not have cats and Cheezland let me get my cat-fix, vicariously. I think I made my first lol in April, 2010.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A CHEEZ FRIEND, AND WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO MAKE A NEW FRIEND? Well, first I look for someone who seems innately kind. I do like snide and sarcastic and poking fun but it has to be without being the intent to do harm. And I'm a pretty simple person. I think the best way to make a new friend is to show a willingness to listen and be understanding. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SITE ON CHEEZBURGER AND WHY? I don't know that I could pick just one. I like so many. But I started coming to Cheezland for the cats, so I guess Lolcats can be my favorite. For now.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT CHEEZBURGER THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? Oh, that's easy! My CheezFrenz!! My first friend was Nippy (Ohai, Nipster!). I think it's wonderful to meet people from all over the world and to find out that, deep down, we all have a lot in common. Boundaries just disappear and THAT makes me happy!

TELL US SOMETHING SUPER INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF—AN EMBARRASSING STORY, A QUIRKY HABIT, SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE US LAUGH! Well, I'm old enough to have seen the Beatles live-in-concert. Does that count?

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? CHEEZBURGERS? Wow, this could have been the answer to the previous question but…I don't eat very much red meat. So, nawt Cheezburgers. Sry. I like comfort food so I'm gonna go with my Grandma's sausage (Pork is white meat) gravy and mashed potatoes. Mmm-mmm-mmm…wooo, doggies!

IF YOU COULD CREATE A NEW FEATURE FOR CHEEZBURGER MEMBERS TO USE ON OUR SITES WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY DO WE NEED IT? I'd like to see a 'Cone of Silence' button. So when you want to send a private message to a friend (for exchanging e-mails and such), you can just punch the button and go. Don't get me wrong, I love to ED messages on my dashboard and butt in. But some things should be personal.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON THE INTERNET? I'm a voracious reader. Anything and everything. I blame my Mother.

This week we're excited to learn more about Featured User djcat595—a creative and fun member of our community!

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR THE STORY BEHIND YOUR USERNAME! I’m afraid that the story isn’t all that exciting. The username combines my first and middle initials with “cat”, because I love cats. When I attempted to register under the username “djcat” on another site, the name was already in use, and they offered me “djcat595.” So I recycled it for Cheezburger because it was easy to remember. After all, I’m getting older!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF THE CHEEZBURGER COMMUNITY AND WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN? I’ve been a lurker on and off for the last three or four years, but didn’t start becoming active until mid-2012. I’ve always enjoyed humour, especially in the way of satire, and Cheezburger has plenty of that. The cute animal pictures also roped me in with their elevated “Awww” factor.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A CHEEZ FRIEND, AND WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO MAKE A NEW FRIEND? When I first joined, my main focus was on creating captions merely for the fun of it, in addition to exploring the respective Cheezburger sites. Eventually, as I posted more pictures, the friend requests came to me, and I have accepted all of them. As the old saying goes, “like attracts like.” And I find that requests come from people who share the same sense of humour and appreciation for animals and birds.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SITE ON CHEEZBURGER AND WHY? OK, I confess—it’s Lolcats. You get a combination of amazing cat photos and fantastic captions from people who obviously know the nature of felines. But I’m partial to all of the I Can Has sites, including Daily Squee, Animal Capshunz, etc. I even get a kick out of Fail Blog, and a number of the Memebase sites. When I was a kid, I grew up reading MAD magazine and various comic books, including Donald Duck. I find that Memebase and Fail Blog are very similar to MAD in their sense of social satire. As a child, I intuitively felt something very dark connected with Donald Duck, especially on Wonderful World of Disney when he would go into his rages and sound as if he was swearing. The Dolan comics may not be for everyone, but the people creating them have seen and captured that darkness to the extreme. WHAT IS IT ABOUT CHEEZBURGER THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? All of it—there is something for everyone. Here is a site that unites people of all ages from all over the world in their love for the funny, absurd, and the amazing things we all confront in everyday life. I make captions for the sheer joy of it, but it’s fantastic that a complete stranger thousands of miles away from you loved it as well.

TELL US SOMETHING SUPER INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF—AN EMBARRASSING STORY, A QUIRKY HABIT, SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE US LAUGH! At work I’ve managed to change the annoying "Paperclip Office Assistant" on Word into a cat. It actually meows when you edit your document. Even when the volume is turned down quite low it seems to meow rather loudly, so I’m sure some of my co-workers think that I have a cat hidden away somewhere!

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? CHEEZBURGERS? If there was a way to eat chocolate without paying the consequences, I could deal with that. Or the main course could be a seafood platter (shrimp, scallops, lobster), with unlimited chocolate for dessert. Oh, and ginger ale to drink. How is that for a quirky meal?!

IF YOU COULD CREATE A NEW FEATURE FOR CHEEZBURGER MEMBERS TO USE ON OUR SITES WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY DO WE NEED IT? It would be great if I could move my uploaded photos into collections like you can do with the favorites. Right now, it is a bit awkward to go through numerous pages of photos trying to find a certain one that you want to use in the LOL Builder. The option of being able to delete an uploaded picture would help as well.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON THE INTERNET? I never get tired of reading, and now with the wonders of technology I can either pick up an old fashioned book, or use an eReader.

Happy Valentine's Day! As a special treat we have an interview with Cheezburger user cataff, a fun member of our community. The image above is of her friend Tazz, who is now at the Rainbow Bridge. She wanted to honor her memory by sharing this with all of us!

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR THE STORY BEHIND YOUR USERNAME! I wanted "cat" in my user name, but the few ideas I had were already in use. I didn't want to add a number to the end, so I began trying to come up with more ideas. The name "cataff" just popped into my head, and I went with it.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF THE CHEEZBURGER COMMUNITY AND WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN? I celebrated my first year anniversary as a member on January 28, but I had been lurking on the site and receiving the daily I Can Has Cheezburger e-mail for at least six months before I joined. I enjoyed the LOLs and felt I wanted to try creating some of my own, and I was impressed with the friendships I saw revealed in the messages. I stopped lurking and joined.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A CHEEZ FRIEND, AND WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO MAKE A NEW FRIEND? I look for friends whose LOLs and messages reveal a person who cares about others and possesses a good sense of humor but doesn't require the use of poor taste to create humor. I also read the person's profile, although it's not always as revealing as what he or she creates. The easiest way to make a new friend is to have a present friend say, "Hey, you should send a friend request to soandso-great person."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SITE ON CHEEZBURGER AND WHY? That's a difficult question because there are two sites I love equally: Lolcats and Set Phasers to LOL. I relate well to cats (have lived with some all my life), and it was a Lolcats creation that I saw online that led me to want to learn more about ICHC. I also have been a science fiction fan since I learned to read and am very comfortable making LOLs in that category.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT CHEEZBURGER THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? The great people I've met on Cheezburger make me the happiest, and I enjoy making LOLs. That is my stress relief these days.

TELL US SOMETHING SUPER INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF—AN EMBARRASSING STORY, A QUIRKY HABIT, SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE US LAUGH! One evening I drove home from work with my mind going a mile a minute as usual—going over what I had completed, what I needed to finish at home, and the chores waiting there as well. I pulled into the driveway and was about to step out of the car when I realized something wasn't right. Then it hit me—I had pulled into my next door neighbor's driveway instead of my own. I snatched my feet back inside the car, slammed the door, backed out of there at light speed, parked at the correct house, and slinked inside imagining all the eyes on me and the laughter. If anyone actually saw what I had done, he or she was kind enough not to mention it to me. This is the first time I've ever shared this incident, so we'll let it be our little secret.

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? CHEEZBURGERS? I am (oh, horrors) a vegetarian, but I do enjoy a good soyburger with cheeze. However, if I could eat only one meal from now on, it would be baked macaroni and cheeze.

IF YOU COULD CREATE A NEW FEATURE FOR CHEEZBURGER MEMBERS TO USE ON OUR SITES WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY DO WE NEED IT? I would create a subpage for the Friends section that would function as a message center. Users could send a message to all friends or check boxes by the names of the friend(s) they wish to receive that message. It takes quite a lot of time to send a message for all to each friend individually. I admire the great folks who share quotes or video links or who make announcements for various profiles and must do so one at a time for all friends involved.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON THE INTERNET? I love to read, watch sports (once played but age has made me a spectator now), and, of course, take time to interact with my kittehs.

Happy Monday and welcome to another lovely week which includes many things…including Mardi Gras!

This week there is a lot of music coming out—Foals release their new album _Holy Fire_, Night Beds release _Country Sleep_ and Virals release _Strange Fruit_. And if you're still feeling the need for more music, watch some highlights from the Grammy's last night, those are sure to entertain!

Movie-wise, there are a few fun ones coming out this week. On Valentine's Day Safe Haven starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough comes out, as does Escape From Planet Earth featuring Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba and many others. On Friday you can get excited about The Power of Few—which we're thrilled about considering it stars Christopher Walken and Christian Slater (anyone else's childhood crush?).

Don't forget to embrace your Fat Tuesday tomorrow and enjoy a grapefruit (we forgot to mention that February is National Grapefruit Month)—have a wonderful week!

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR THE STORY BEHIND YOUR USERNAME! I used to do medieval reenactment. I was looking for a name for an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman and found "Safrida", a woman who was made an abbess after a generous donation from Daddy. Liked the name, and it stuck.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF THE CHEEZBURGER COMMUNITY AND WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN? I think it has been a year and a half. I was looking for visuals that would be useful in a classroom situation and was already aware of Fail Blog from when the students had free time on the computer. Then I found that I could make captioned photos and, well, insanity ensued.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A CHEEZ FRIEND, AND WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO MAKE A NEW FRIEND? I look for a similar sense of humour and taste in work. Let's face it. If your Dashboard is all Dolan comics and half-naked chicks, we're not really going to have fun together. I have to be careful who I choose as a friend because of my job, too. The best way to make a new friend is by researching the person, and going with quality, not quantity. Blindly sending Friend Requests to everyone you come across isn't the best way to go.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SITE ON CHEEZBURGER AND WHY? I am a geek, so I definitely love Set Phasers to Lol. I'm especially tickled when some of the more obscure shows get captioned!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT CHEEZBURGER THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? There's the creative side, of course, and there are also the friendships you can form here. I know that if I'm having a bad day, there are some great people here to cheer me up. Shout out to my gurls on teh comfeesofa!

TELL US SOMETHING SUPER INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF—AN EMBARRASSING STORY, A QUIRKY HABIT, SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE US LAUGH! I was a teacher in Seoul, South Korea for three years. One day, there was a heavy snowfall (six inches) that ground the city to a halt and cancelled our school's classes. So what did the Canadians decide to do? Go bag sledding in Olympic park! We took the super-sized plastic bags our laundry came in and headed to the park, only to find that security had shut down the actual sledding hill because of too much snow. Remember, this is only a half foot of snow. So off we went for a lovely stroll in the park. And every time we came across a hill, we whipped the bags out of our pockets and slid on down. Until security chased us out of the park. The Koreans who were in the park weren't sure whether to be scandalized over our rebellious act, or jealous because they had no bags to slide on!

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? CHEEZBURGERS? Only one meal the rest of my life? It would probably be fettuccine carbonara. And it would make for a very short life!

IF YOU COULD CREATE A NEW FEATURE FOR CHEEZBURGER MEMBERS TO USE ON OUR SITES WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY DO WE NEED IT? While I can think of one feature we need to lose (Down-vote, I'm looking at you!) I can't think of anything I would do to improve the site beyond more pictures uploaded more frequently. I understand it's time consuming, but it's a little difficult when you're in the mood to Lol and you've worn out everything in your preferred category. Either that or a keyword search for pictures, like "cat-police-halloween".

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT ON THE INTERNET? I knit, I write a bit and watch some TV when there's something decent on. I also do old-school gaming with friends, like D&D. You were warned: I am a geek!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUBMISSION? I realize it isn't a barrel of laughs, but this helped me get some of my grief into words at losing my aunt. She was my foster mother when I was put up for adoption at birth, and I was adopted by her brother-in-law. It's one of those ripple-in-the-pond moments. If I'd gone to other people, I have no idea what path my life would have taken. So this one means the most to me.
